Balik kampung...

We had a short holiday to Medan from 4-9 Aug. It was quite a short yet fruitful trip as we visited Lake Toba. It is located about 4 hours drive from Medan and it's Val and Daddy first time visiting. The last time I visited this place was 16 years ago during my High School Graduation Trip. Therefore, being able to visit this place brought back a lot of memories ^_^

We chartered an MPV for the trip and the tour even include 3 meals. The first meal was lunch at a Chinese Restaurant at Prapat, a small town by the lake.  We gulped down the whole meal within 15 mins hahhaa...after that, we went to the market to buy some local fruits and wait for our ferry to arrive as we will be spending the night in Samosir Island. 

There are two types of ferries: one for passengers only and another one for vehicles. We chose the later one so that we don't need to carry our luggage around. We had an experience of our time when the local kids board the ferry and jump straight into the lake. Some even went to the second level where the passengers seat and jumped out from the window. And they even asked for $$ from us for their 'performance'  *shake head*  We got to see up-close Olympic diving performance here...*LOL

Our hotel is located around 15 mins drive from ferry station and it was a small, cosy and clean hotel. A very neat well groomed garden and small private beach. We wasted no time and went down for a walk and relax ^_^

To warm up, Val decided to play with bubble gun first...

And her long waited beach time...Building a canal with Daddy... :) Extremely excited, forgot that she needs to nap haha...

Indeed, still a very beautiful place for relaxing...

 

The breakfast on the next morning...Val chose bread over fried rice and fried bee hoon...She is more concerned when she can get to the beach again :)

Finally, she got her most anticipated time...the water was very cold...Though the sun is bright but she was shivering within 10 mins and can only play by the beach hehe...

Since we got some time before going back, we went goofing around for some pics taking session...Val is obsessed with everything Mermaid now, including the Mermaid pose haha...

The trip to Lake Toba was fun after all, wish we can stay one more night...doing nothing but playing...

Back to town, we visited the largest shopping centre, Sun Plaza, where Val got to sit on her favourite train and animal rides...and she got her first in lifetime experience here...Guess what!

I let her enjoyed the manicure session here... *grin*  She has always been asking for a try, saying that her friends applied nail polish etc...I let her try this time with one condition, NO nail polish hehehe...Only buffing, cutting and shaping. Look at how she enjoyed her session :) She even asked for the lady boss to apply lotion on her arms...This girl is really growing up fast *LOL
