[ Marley and Me ]

Watched this touching family drama yesterday during Val's nap time and loving it. It is basically about a newly wed couple (John and Jenny Grogan) who contemplate in starting family by keeping a pet dog first. And it turned out Marley is the world's worst dog with his antics and naughty behaviour who loves to create trouble for its owner. Soon, the couple have their first child, second and third ones and Jenny have to give up her job to take care of the growing family plus the destructive Marley.

With Jenny staying home to take care of the children, John has to work harder in order to provide for the family and he has to sacrifice his dream job as reporter to become a columnist instead. While his friend, Sebastian who is still single gets his dream job at NY Times. It seemed that John is having a disadvantage as he needs to sacrifice in the beginning, but when the children finally grow up and with the company of Marley, he finally realises what is most important in his life.

Love what John says at the end of the movie:
" Dog has no use of fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. A waterlogged stick will do just fine.
A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give them your heart and he will give you his.
How many people can you say that about ?
How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special ?
How many people can make you feel ... extraordinary? "

(Cheers to all dog lovers out there)

To me, this movie reminded me once again to be appreciative of people around me and not to take things for granted. Enjoy every moment of our lives as we never know whether tomorrow or accident will come first. Some people focus on their career first and others on family. But no matter how successful one is, nothing beats the feeling of coming home to a loving family. This is something money can't buy. However, there is one condition ie. we must take good care of our health so we can enjoy life as long as we want. Well, this is only my personal perspective, what about yours ? :P

Quote of the day:
There are 2 ways of being rich. One is to have all you want. The other is to be satisfied with what you have.
